Welcome To Seattle!

No, we're not moving from Virginia to Seattle (though it is a place I'd like to visit!). But over the past month I have had a bit of Seattle fever, but for good reason. The biggest order (to date) Personalized Diaper Cakes has received with a Seattle sports theme for two of them and a "boy" theme for the third.

Mom and dad to be already have a little girl in their family and are about ready to welcome a sweet little boy into the mix. As sports fans (more specifically Seattle sports fans), their wonderful friend decided that it would be great to include this love into the little guys baby shower. We came up with two 2-tier cakes, one for the Seattle Mariners (baseball) and one for the Seattle Seahawks (football) to put on the tables set up for guests and then a 3-tier cake to put on the gift table. We wanted these cakes to feel like they went together, but not for them to be exactly the same. THANKFULLY, the two sports teams colors are similar and work together, so finding the color combination for the 3-tier cake was pretty simple.

Let's take a closer look at the three cakes, shall we?

First, the Mariners cake
94 Pampers Newborn Diapers, two Seattle Mariners Onesies (6 months), two NUK baseball pacifiers, Baseball socks, a baseball bib, a teething ring, baseball wrist rattle and a newborn (reversible) baseball cap. The colors were pulled from the onesie that is on the right hand side of the cake. We did look high and low for Mariners ribbon, but there was none to be found. So instead we used baseball ribbon to pull together the them.

Now for the Seahawks cake
Again, made of 94 Pampers Newborn Diapers, three Seahawks onesies (6-9 months), football themed socks, two NUK football themed pacifiers, and a mini Seahawks helmet.

These two cakes are a little less filled in than some of our cakes, but we wanted them to stick to the themes as much as possible, so if it wasn't Seahawks or Mariners related, it didn't get attached. Instead, we saved the stuff that is normally included on cakes for the 3-tier cake.
With a general "boy" theme, we had to find something to focus on so this cake didn't feel like it was just thrown together with random things. So we decided to (loosely) stick with the sports theme of the 2-tier cakes and then incorporate the colors of the other cakes (so they would still feel like they belong together) in the stuff attached around the cake.

This cake has over 100 Pampers Newborn Diapers, Taggies football carseat toy, teething ring, keys toys, socks, a sports themed bib, Johnson and Johnson products, 2 NUK pacifiers, wrist rattle, Gerber soft tip spoons, a pacifier clip (which, in my humble opinion, is the best invention ever!! I'm not sure how we could have survived without this! If you're expecting a child and planning on using pacifiers, do yourself a HUGE favor and pick up one of these. You can see what it looks like in the picture below.), sunglasses and a super soft stuffed monkey on top.
The colors of the ribbons were pulled from the other two cakes, the blue from the Mariners cake and the blue from the Seahawks cake, put together and then a third ribbon which says "Baby Boy" (which you can't see in this photo).

So what do you think? Which one is your favorite? I'm personally in love with the mini helmet and the mini baseball cap.

Stay tuned! We have two more cakes in the next week and a half so there's going to be a lot more photos coming!

Whoooo's Ready For a New Baby?

The mama to be who is going to be the proud owner of this owl themed diaper cake, that's who!! (pun intended)

This four tier cake is made up of 141 Pampers Newborn diapers, 2 super soft baby wash cloths, Johnson and Johnson travel size products, 5 Gerber soft tip spoons, 1 pair of socks, 2 NUK pacifiers, 2 bibs, 1 Bright Starts Teething Toy, I Nuby Teethe & Play, 1 Taggies Take Along toy, 1 Animal Planet Owl Carseat Toy and one handmade owl hat that was found on Etsy from this wonderful shop.

Seriously, how cute is that hat?!!

Another custom element to this cake is the owl ribbon. The ribbon had to be something girly, yet fit the owl theme, and it was finally found (again, on Etsy) from this little shop called TheBeesKneesBows.
So what's your favorite part? I don't think I could choose just one!

Beachy Keen!

So awhile back I shared a quick look at the beach themed diaper cake that I had finished. Well know I can share the fully complete cake! What do you think? This is a different look for diaper cakes for me, focusing more on the theme of the cake instead of what's surrounding the cake.

The cake is covered in decorative fishing net and shells

I was told that mom and dad to be are very relaxed parents so it should be a simple cake. So the cake is decorated with Johnson and Johnson travel products, two NUK pacifiers, one pair of socks and 2 Gerber soft tip spoons
I'm pretty much in love with this cake. Here's hoping mom and dad to be are as well!!

Wild Ride

I was asked recently to put together something that I hadn't done yet, a diaper motorcycle. I've seen other diaper motorcycles out there, so I knew I had to add something unique to set it apart. First let's take a look at the finished product, see if you can spot my special touch!!
The bike is made up of 34 Pampers newborn diapers, 2 bibs, 1 bottle, 1 wash cloth, 2 receiving blankets, 2 link toys, 1 pair of socks and one super soft dog.

And what was my special touch?

The kickstand!!

Pinky Penguin!

First, let's all just take in how adorable this little penguin is. And he (or she!) is so soft!! But I'd like to think that this little cutie is just the icing on the cake. This cake just screams little girl! Hot pink and covered in flowers. For those of you who closely follow this blog, you may recognize the ribbon from a few other projects. The hot pink larger ribbon has also made an appearance on this cake while the smaller flowered covered ribbon was last seen on the middle cake of the blog header. This cute little cake is made up of 80 size 1 Pampers diapers, 3 Gerber soft tip spoons, Johnson and Johnson travel size products, 2 NUK pacifiers, 1 pair of newborn socks, 2 Bright Starts teething rings, 1 Bright Starts wrist rattle, two bibs, two wash cloths and 1 sippy cup for baby's big sister!

What do you think?

And stay turned, we have a busy week and a half coming up! Lot's of new cakes to share with everyone!!

Feeling Beachy

So this cake isn't 100% complete, but I'm so in love with it that I can't help but share it.
Absolutely, 100% in love with it. It's different than any other cake I've done. It focuses less on the items around the cake, and more on the theme and the fact that it's a cake made out of diapers. I think that's why I love it so much.
