No, we're not moving from Virginia to Seattle (though it is a place I'd like to visit!). But over the past month I have had a bit of Seattle fever, but for good reason. The biggest order (to date) Personalized Diaper Cakes has received with a Seattle sports theme for two of them and a "boy" theme for the third.
Mom and dad to be already have a little girl in their family and are about ready to welcome a sweet little boy into the mix. As sports fans (more specifically Seattle sports fans), their wonderful friend decided that it would be great to include this love into the little guys baby shower. We came up with two 2-tier cakes, one for the Seattle Mariners (baseball) and one for the Seattle Seahawks (football) to put on the tables set up for guests and then a 3-tier cake to put on the gift table. We wanted these cakes to feel like they went together, but not for them to be exactly the same. THANKFULLY, the two sports teams colors are similar and work together, so finding the color combination for the 3-tier cake was pretty simple.
Let's take a closer look at the three cakes, shall we?
First, the Mariners cake
94 Pampers Newborn Diapers, two Seattle Mariners Onesies (6 months), two NUK baseball pacifiers, Baseball socks, a baseball bib, a teething ring, baseball wrist rattle and a newborn (reversible) baseball cap. The colors were pulled from the onesie that is on the right hand side of the cake. We did look high and low for Mariners ribbon, but there was none to be found. So instead we used baseball ribbon to pull together the them.
Now for the Seahawks cake
Again, made of 94 Pampers Newborn Diapers, three Seahawks onesies (6-9 months), football themed socks, two NUK football themed pacifiers, and a mini Seahawks helmet.
These two cakes are a little less filled in than some of our cakes, but we wanted them to stick to the themes as much as possible, so if it wasn't Seahawks or Mariners related, it didn't get attached. Instead, we saved the stuff that is normally included on cakes for the 3-tier cake.
With a general "boy" theme, we had to find something to focus on so this cake didn't feel like it was just thrown together with random things. So we decided to (loosely) stick with the sports theme of the 2-tier cakes and then incorporate the colors of the other cakes (so they would still feel like they belong together) in the stuff attached around the cake.
This cake has over 100 Pampers Newborn Diapers, Taggies football carseat toy, teething ring, keys toys, socks, a sports themed bib, Johnson and Johnson products, 2 NUK pacifiers, wrist rattle, Gerber soft tip spoons, a pacifier clip (which, in my humble opinion, is the best invention ever!! I'm not sure how we could have survived without this! If you're expecting a child and planning on using pacifiers, do yourself a HUGE favor and pick up one of these. You can see what it looks like in the picture below.), sunglasses and a super soft stuffed monkey on top.
The colors of the ribbons were pulled from the other two cakes, the blue from the Mariners cake and the blue from the Seahawks cake, put together and then a third ribbon which says "Baby Boy" (which you can't see in this photo).
So what do you think? Which one is your favorite? I'm personally in love with the mini helmet and the mini baseball cap.
Stay tuned! We have two more cakes in the next week and a half so there's going to be a lot more photos coming!
